Animal rights activists will hang a giant banner over I-4 to protest bear hunting

Orlando, Fla. — A local animal rights group wants to send a message to Florida Fish and Wildlife by hanging a giant banner over I-4 Tuesday afternoon.

Bryan Wilson with the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida hopes to bring attention to a meeting being held by FWC.

“We really believe that FWC is going with the wrong direction re-allowing a hunt here in 2019 or 2020.”

FWC on Wednesday is re-evaluating their bear management plan to possibly include contracted bear shooting and regulated hunting.

“Hunting should not be an option for managing their populations,” Wilson said.

On Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. his group will unfurl a banner from the Conroy Road overpass above I-4 reading ‘TELL FWC NO BEAR HUNT.’
