ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County Fire Rescue is looking for residents, organizations, businesses and groups to adopt a fire station for the holidays.
It's #GivingTuesday! We are thankful for the overwhelming kindness of the community, ensuring the success of #AdoptAFireStation this holiday season. 30 of our 42 stations have already been adopted! Public relations information officer Tiana Davis explains the initiative was created by Orange County as a way for the community to give back to fire fighters for what they do.
“They’ll adopt a station and most people will do a pot luck of some sort, or they’ll have a catered meal delivered. I do have several hotels in the south Orlando area that always cater a nice dinner or lunch for the station,” said Davis.
On Friday, Davis gave an update to the program. She said of the 41 fire stations in Orange County, seven are still available for “adoption.”
