Orlando, Fla. — Students at Corner Lake Middle School held signs welcoming friends back to school Monday.
They simply said Hello, Hi and Good Morning.

Schools across Central Florida are taking part in Start with Hello Week, an effort organized by Sandy Hook Promise to create a culture of inclusion.
At Olympia High School students will be encouraged to write or accept a complement on Wednesday and promise that “No one sits alone” all week.

The students at Hunter Creek Elementary will be sporting name tags today and will learn to say Hello in two languages on Thursday.
This week, September 23rd-27th, the Sandy Hook Promise asks us to “Start with Hello.” This initiative focuses on reducing social isolation which may result in violence or self-harm. The mission behind the Sandy Hook Promise is to “create an engaged culture and prevent school shootings. violence or other harmful acts in schools.”
All participating schools are eligible to be nominated for a reward of up to $1,000 dollars from the organization.
