Florida man beats father to death with boat alternator

A south Florida man is dead after his son beat him to death during a fishing trip.

Crew members say they were about 66 miles southwest of Marco Island when 32-year-old Casey Hickok began beating his father with a spare boat alternator as his father slept.

Hickok then threw the murder weapon overboard.

The Copeland man has been arrested for second-degree murder and will face a maximum penalty of life in federal prison if convicted.

The case is being investigated by both the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service.
