Orlando, Florida — The ride that Disney is calling its ‘gem’ of ‘Galaxy’s Edge’ officially opens to the public today, December 5th.
Many in the early-bird crowd that got to the park before the sun was up got caught off guard, though, when the park announced they would be using a ‘virtual queue’ to load the ride instead of having a line weaving throughout the park.
In case you aren’t sure how to virtual queue works, first you’ll need the Disney World app.
Once logged in to the My Disney Experience app, tap 'Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge' then tap 'Join Boarding Group.'
This will give you a group assignment number.
Once your number is closed to being called or is called, the app should send you notifications to tell you that you’re boarding now.
This allows a guest to enjoy the rest of the park without being stuck in a long line while waiting to ride ‘Rise of the Resistance.’
The media got a sneak peek of the ride on Tuesday.
Here, guests can join the Resistance as they escape from the First Order and Kylo Ren.
The attraction isn’t a roller coaster or a traditional ride, nor is it a simulator but something amazing in-between.
In fact, it took my breath away.
I didn’t know what to expect, admittedly being a super-duper-nerd-level fan.
How can you impress someone who lives and breathes Star Wars?
Who routinely dresses as Star Wars characters to Lucas Film level with the 501st Legion?

But Disney never fails to impress.
By the end of it, my cheeks hurt from smiling and my throat was dry from the hollers of cheer.
