Volusia County, Fla. — Officials are investigating after they said a collision between a freight train and truck left an 87-year-old man dead early Monday morning.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 1:15 a.m. in the area of West Beresford Road and Alexander Drive.
Initial investigation showed a pickup truck being driven by an 87-year-old man was traveling on West Beresford Road when the driver began to travel south on the train tracks, colliding with the train, according to officials.

The driver of the truck, a DeLand resident, died at the scene of the crash.
There were no other injuries in the crash.
