ORLANDO, Fla. — A dozen officers with the Orlando Police Department hopped on a plane today for Puerto Rico. They will be mainly in San Juan to help patrol and monitor vehicle traffic on the hurricane-ravaged island.
“They’re still struggling when it comes to power. There are over 400 intersections without power. We will be assisting with that,” explained Deputy Chief Orlando Rolon.
Deputy Chief Rolon said 120 officers had volunteered for this and 12 were chosen. Others may be given Puerto Rico assignments later, if conditions warrant.
