Billy Joel to return to Amway Center for one night only

Live Nation announced today that legendary musician Billy Joel returns to Orlando's Amway Center for one night only on Friday, January 11, 2019. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10 a.m.

“Billy Joel returning to our Amway Center is cause for celebration," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "He's one of the world's best known and most beloved artists, whose music resonates with audiences of all ages. We enthusiastically welcome him back to Orlando and anticipate another memorable performance."

"Amway Center prides itself on creating legendary experiences for our patrons and with Billy Joel, you know he always delivers," said Orlando Venues Chief Venues Officer Allen Johnson. "We look forward to hosting him again on January 11 and singing along to all his hits."  Joel is one of rock 'n roll's best, performing his unrivaled catalog of songs that have made up the soundtrack of many lives and is one of the most revered entertainers in music history. During his five-decade career, Joel had 33 songs in the Top 40, is a Songwriters Hall of Famer, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Tony Award-winner ("Movin' Out"), six-time Grammy® Award-winner ("Just the Way You Are" – Record of the Year and Song of the Year, "52nd Street" – Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance and "Glass Houses" – Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance) including the prestigious Grammy Legend Award. With over 150 million records sold, he is one of the best-selling artists of all time, sixth best-selling recording artist and third best-selling solo artist in the U.S and one of the highest-grossing touring artists in the world.

In 2014, Joel received The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, which honors living musical artists' lifetime achievement in promoting the genre of song as a vehicle of cultural understanding; entertaining and informing audiences; and inspiring new generations. He also received the once-in-a-century ASCAP Centennial Award, which is presented to American music icons in recognition of their incomparable accomplishments in their respective music genres and beyond. In 2013, Joel received The Kennedy Center Honors, one of the United States' top cultural awards. In 2011, Joel became the first pop musician honored by Steinway & Sons with a painted portrait that hangs in Steinway Hall in Manhattan, the first non-classical pianist to be immortalized in the collection. For his accomplishments as a musician and as a humanitarian, Joel was honored as the 2002 MusiCares Person Of The Year by the MusiCares Foundation and the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. Joel has also performed alongside other music greats at two of Madison Square Garden's most extraordinary benefit concerts – "12-12-12, The Concert For Sandy Relief," which raised awareness and money for those affected by Hurricane Sandy and "The Concert for New York City," which was hosted to help aid 9/11 victims and heroes. Joel received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, adding another milestone to his extraordinary career.
