The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Polar Plunge is a fundraiser for Special Olympics, during which individuals and teams, alongside Special Olympics athletes, take the plunge into bodies of cold water. There are two ways for you and family and friends to participate! You can take the vital plunge and donate online or you could take the physical plunge!
Everyone who raises a minimum of $100 may take the physical plunge. As you raise more money, you will be eligible for cool prizes like tickets to SeaWorld, Aquatica and even Discover Cove! To take either Plunge, register here! To see a complete list of “Plunge” incentives here.
The Polar Plunge is on Saturday, February 1st at SeaWorld’s Aquatica. As many of you know the water at the Aquatcia is heated. But for the Polar Plunge it’s not! In addition to jumping into cold water for a good cause, a highlight of the annual event is the array of crazy costumes that Plungers are encouraged to wear in the name of fun. If that's not motivation enough, 100% of proceeds support Special Olympics Florida.
Through the power of sport, Special Olympics strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. For the 4.2 million athletes, Special Olympics is the only place where they feel like champions. Join 98.9 WMMO And WFTV 9 Family Connection and take the plunge and help us reach out to one more athlete.
