Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors fundraiser will kick off on November 2nd at the 43rd Annual Fall Fiesta in the Park at Lake Eola. Community Food and Outreach representatives will be on-site from 10-5pm  (corner of Robinson and Eola, across from Panera Bread)  with the News 96.5 Ask The Experts, educating the community on how they aid our neighbors who need a hand up rather than a hand out.

The Central Florida Community Food & Outreach Center strives to provide a hand up for those in need, helping them to break free from poverty by offering hunger relief, crisis care, transformative education,  and employment training opportunities.

The programs offered by the Community Food & Outreach Center focus on giving working poor families a positive hand up during their greatest time of need.

We'll end our drive with a live broadcast at the Community Food and Outreach Center, on the weekend of November 23rd and 24th.  Join us for food and drinks and take a tour of the Center to learn more about helping your neighbors in need.

ABOUT COMMUNITY FOOD AND OUTREACH

Central Florida By The Numbers

According to the University of Central Florida’s Poverty in Central Florida Report, we are living in an era of increasing poverty in this country, evidenced by a six-year annual increase in the national poverty rate.*

Almost anyone who has been affected by the recent economic downturn would agree, the number of people in financial crisis, who are experiencing the effects of hunger and poverty are at an all time high, and we in Central Florida have certainly seen our share.

    Stories From Your Neighbors

It was January 2011. Valerie Williams was ending her 12th year of employment with Bank of America. She shared an apartment with her two teenage daughters and although many of her closest friends were struggling in a tough economic time, Valerie’s situation seemed pretty secure. She had never had to ask anyone for financial help. After all, both of her daughters had everything they needed and more. Everything with her job seemed the same, although some of Valerie’s co-workers had been laid off recently. Despite being surrounded by uncertainty, everything in Valerie’s world appeared to be normal. Unfortunately, that was all about to change….

    WHY WE SHOULD HELP OUT...

    Q & A

1.) Community Food and Outreach Center has a mission to help families in poverty and those hurt by the recent economic crisis in our community.

CFOC does this by offering hunger relief, crisis services, and educational opportunities for job readiness and hope to families in Central Florida.

2.) Community Food and Outreach Center has a campus located in Downtown Orlando that helps more than 1,500 families per week.

Community Food and Outreach Center’s programs serve thousands a month looking for help and hope.

3.) Community Food and Outreach Center serves everyone who comes to us in need

These are good people who are not looking for a hand out, but just need a hand-up to help them rebuild their lives. Hurting children and families are in need in greater numbers than in any other time in our lifetime, we need your help to sound the alarm and rally this great community to rise up and meet the need.

4.) Does my gift make a difference here in the local community?

Yes all your gifts stay local. There are hungry children right here in central Florida that we can help every day.

5.) How do you programs help families this fall?

Families receiving help this fall will receive emergency Thanksgiving Food Boxes and also be given the opportunity to sign up for other programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, and Florida Kidcare in Community  Food & Outreach Center’s Crisis Relief Centers.
