Shark latches onto Florida man diving in the Keys

Video of a Florida man’s wildlife encounter is making the internet rounds.

The video was originally posted to Facebook on Wednesday by Vic Micolucci of Jacksonville's WJXT-TV.  It has been viewed and shared close to 100,00 times.

According to Micolucci’s account, the man in the video is a Clay County resident.  He was scuba diving in the Florida Keys this week when he surfaced with a small nurse shark latched onto his stomach.

The man patiently lies back as someone else tries to kill the shark with a knife.  The shark refuses to let go despite being slashed from gill to gill.

The shark continues to bleed for a few minutes before finally letting go.

Micolucci says the man suffered only minor injuries and is expected to fully recover.

The shark did not survive.
