UPDATE: Attorney Don West speaks with News 96.5 on Zimmerman road rage incident

Zimmerman attorney Don West sat down with News 96.5 for a second time at his Orlando office Tuesday.

He said Zimmerman will hopefully talk to Lake Mary police in the coming days. West stated his client is willing to fully cooperate with law enforcement. We asked about Zimmerman’s mental state, and West told us the 31-year-old is shocked from the "near death experience.”

On Monday, 36-year-old Matthew Apperson fired a bullet into Zimmerman's passenger window along Lake Mary Boulevard in Seminole County.

It was revealed at a Lake Mary PD press conference Tuesday, three weapons were uncovered. Two, belonging to Apperson, and one belonging to Zimmerman.

West said he was aware his client had a gun, but does not know where police found it. Zimmerman usually carries a weapon in his vehicle, especially during travel, said West.

West is adamant his client did not provoke Apperson.

Zimmerman was reportedly in town for Mother's Day and West says he was on the way to a doctor’s appointment when Apperson began following him. West said Zimmerman is a "witness/victim" to the road rage incident that occurred around 12:45 PM on Monday in Lake Mary.

Apperson and Zimmerman have a history.

Both were involved in another road rage incident in September 2014.
