Would-be robber leaves Metrowest bank empty-handed

A man is still at large after forcing his way into the CFE Credit Union on Metro West Boulevard early Wednesday morning, but he left without any money, Orlando police said.

Kyong Lee was cleaning the building just after 4 a.m. when a man pushed his way through the door and flashed a silver handgun while Lee was taking out the trash, police said.

Lee said he remained calm. He described the gunman as young and nervous.

Lee was forced into the ladies' room and was ordered to stay there when the gunman took his phone, according to the police report.

Authorities said the robber appeared to be between 18 and 20 years old. He was wearing a black bandana across his face and had his head covered with a white rag.

Lee said he told the gunman that he had no money, though he said later that he had some in his wallet at the time, and that he had no access to the money in the building.

Lee told the gunman that if he left, Lee wouldn't call the police.

The robber left, leaving Lee's phone on the bank floor. Lee kept his word and didn't call the police, but did call a coworker, who called authorities.
