Police: 2 in custody after officers pursue homicide suspect, swarm I-Drive hotel

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando police said that officers were following a homicide suspect Tuesday in an SUV on Kirkman Road.

Police said the driver of the SUV crashed on I-4 near Universal Studios.

Rachel Regnier was working at a ticket booth inside the Heart of I-Drive Hotel on International Drive when she said a man ran through the lobby and then exited the hotel.

Regnier caught some of the incident on her cellphone.

You can watch the video below:

Police said a man and a woman bailed from the SUV on I-4 before running to the hotel, where they were caught.

"All of a sudden a gentleman ran through the lobby, and after he ran through the lobby, there were several police cars that started coming, and then we realized something was going on," said Regnier.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies assisted Orlando police in the chase.

Regnier said she saw police and deputies surrounded the hotel with their guns drawn.

"There must've been about 30 cops, and then when they started pulling out the AK-47s and that's when we realized, ‘Wow. OK, we should probably be a little bit nervous at this point,’” said Regnier.

Channel 9’s Deneige Broom  said the man and woman were taken into custody.

U.S. marshals were at the scene, but law enforcement did not give any further information about the homicide case for which the suspect was wanted.

Police said they will release more information about the suspect on Wednesday.
