Pizza delivery driver helps rescue injured puppy

Authorities are crediting an Orlando pizza delivery driver with helping rescue an injured puppy on Sunday.

Orange County Animal Services said the delivery driver found the injured 3-month-old puppy on N. Ohio Avenue.

The dog's owner told Animal Services officers that the puppy was injured by another dog in the neighborhood. The injury was left untreated and resulted in an infection of the leg, officials said.

The puppy, now known as Pupperoni, is unable to put weight on her leg and it may need to be amputated. Animal Services said Pupperoni will need long-term medical care.

“Despite her injuries, Pupperoni is still a friendly, outgoing pup seeking companionship and attention,” said Dil Luther, division manager of Orange County Animal Services.

Pupperoni's owner surrendered her and an investigation is ongoing. The pup (A323452) needs a loving home and anyone interested in adopting her should contact Animal Services.
