Reporters questioned President Obama today on the announcement of criminal charges against the six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray.
“Justice needs to be served. All the evidence needs to be presented,” he said, “Those individuals who are charged obviously are also entitled to due process and rule of law.”
He explained that his administration would continue working with a task force put together following the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
“I’m actually going to be talking with mayors who are interested in figuring out ways to rebuild trust between community and police.”
Freddie Gray died after suffering a spinal injury while in police custody in Baltimore.
The State’s Attorney announced manslaughter charges for all six officers involved with one officer facing a second degree murder charge.
