Man sues Orange County gas station where he was shot

An Orange County man is suing a gas station after he was shot multiple times while he was at the store.

The shooting victim told Channel 9 that the owners of the Kwik Stop at South Orange Blossom Trail and Kaley Avenue should be held responsible for crime that happens there.

The victim, who doesn't want to be identified, claims gang members use the store as a hot spot for drug deals and criminal activity.

"I was trying to get gas," the victim said. "It felt like a ton of bricks hit me, hit me in my chest."

The man said he was shot six times and the gunman was never located.

"Three of them went in my arm, went in my chest, went in my wrist," the victim said.

In 2014, there were several shootings, some deadly, at or near the Kwik Stop. Recfords show that Orange County deputies have responded to the location nearly 50 times in 2015.

The victim's attorney believes his client may have never been shot if the store owners did more to protect customers.

"Hopefully it'll make all store owners aware that if you're in a crime area, you need to act reasonably to protect your customers," attorney Michael Sutton said.

Employees at the store said they didn't know anything about the incident.
