Man found shot to death outside Cocoa home

Brevard County deputies are looking for a gunman who shot and killed a man near Cocoa on Tuesday.

Deputies said Jamal Anderson, 32, was found shot to death on the ground outside a home on A Lane just after midnight.

Anderson's family told WFTV they don't know what could have motivated the shooting.

"Right now, we're distraught, still in shock, can't believe this happened, him being so young. Basically, trying to get it together," said Anderson's cousin, Juan Jones.

Deputies believe that Anderson was targeted, but they said they have no specific suspect information. Investigators spent hours at the scene collecting evidence and searching for clues.

"From the evidence collected in the yard, it was not a drive-by. There would have been another person in that area, in the yard that fired upon the victim," said Maj. Tod Goodyear, with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

But this isn't the first report of shots bring fired the neighborhood over the past few days.

"We know that there were a couple of different incidents that occurered in the last few days where shots were fired. We're now going back over those report to see if they are related," Goodyear said.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office.
