Local homebuilders show off this weekend and next

The spring Parade of Homes begins this weekend across greater Orlando.

They range in price from the high 100's to just over $1 million.

Builders these days are catering to consumers who want energy efficient "green homes" and tech savvy "smart homes."

The hot markets for builders right now is western Orange County and around Lake Nona, said Scott Merritt, Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Builders Association. "We'll continue to see that boom for the next couple of years," he added. Eastern Lake and northern Osceola counties will be the next areas to grow and a few locations remain in Seminole County, he explained.

"Right now is an absolutely great time to be in the industry, to get into the industry," Merritt said.
