Mayor Buddy Dyer has made it a centerpiece of his efforts to make downtown more livable... that is, help find housing for homeless veterans.
More than 500 volunteers are training this week with the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness to identify vets in need and offer a helping hand.
"This is really important, because if you look all the great things that we have done in our community, there's not a meaning to them if you can't help the least of us," Dyer said.
The initiative starts next week.
