Cooler temps on tap for the weekend

Big changes in the weather are coming this weekend.

Central Florida has enjoyed above average temperatures this week, but a cold front and a low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico will bring a wet and windy start to the weekend.

Along with it, will come a 15-20 degree drop in temperature.

Severe Weather Center Nine meteorologist Brian Shields says the rain will move into the metro Orlando area by the Friday evening commute.

"Later today, rain and storms start to push in with a stronger storm system and that will continue right through tonight.  Some spots (will get) over a quarter of an inch, but if you get some thunder storms, we'll have some over an inch," said Shields.

Friday's forecast calls for afternoon highs around 80.

On Saturday, we will struggle to reach the mid 60s.
