Child on bike struck in Altamonte Spgs

For the second time this week, a child riding a bicycle home from school was struck by a motorist.

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol report that Jack Rivera, 11, was riding his bike on the sidewalk of Eden Park Road when a car turned at the corner of Cub Lake Drive and struck him, knocking him to the ground.

The driver got out of the vehicle and asked if the boy was okay, but left the scene afterwards without reporting the accident.

The man is described as a white/hispanic male with a goatee, driving a white Ford sedan.

After the accident at 8:30 this morning, the boy continued on his way to Teague Middle School from where he was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

This is the second time in recent days that a student was struck by a motorist.

An Ocoee girl is in critical condition with head injuries after being hit by what appears to be a reckless driver emerging from a parking lot onto Clarke Road.

That driver also struck a boy who, along with the girl, was riding bicycles after school.
