A disturbing video posted to social media shows two Orange Park, Florida girls burning, torturing, and finally stomping an endangered gopher tortoise to death. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is now working with the State Attorney's Office to find out what charges can be filed.

The cellphone video shows two teenage girls pouring a flammable liquid on the tortoise and lighting its shell on fire. As the helpless animal tries to escape, one of the girls is seen throwing the turtle across the concrete before stomping on it until it dies. Throughout the video, the girls are laughing and talking about hurting the tortoise.

"Let's light his head on fire," one girl said.

"Burn baby, burn baby," one said.

Others that saw the video posted on the girls Facebook pages contacted authorities. The girls are students at Ridgewood High School but because the incident happened off campus and not during school hours, the school says investigators are handling the situation.

FWC said the turtle is a threatened gopher tortoise, one level above endangered, which makes matters even worse.

The girls could face a felony charge of aggravated animal cruelty and an additional felony charge  under a statute that protects endangered species.

Nevada Voters for Animals posted the full video to their Facebook page. ***WARNING: VERY GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING**
