Orlando, Fla. — Less than six minutes into the opening game of the 2017 NBA season, Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtic's was carted off the court with a very serious injury.
Playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena, Hayward suffered a really ugly looking ankle injury.
TNT play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan repeated in the broadcast, "Hayward broke his leg, Hayward has broken his leg, Hayward has broken his leg." A stretcher was brought out to take Hayward off the floor.
After the game, head coach Brad Stevens told reporters Hayward had suffered a fractured tibia and a dislocated ankle.
