WATCH: Florida woman teaches chicken to paddleboard

ISLAMORADA, Fla. — While most people have a cat or a dog to keep them company, Karly Venezia has a chicken – and she takes it paddleboarding.

Loretta the 1-year-old chicken seems to have taken a liking to the water sport and often accompanies Venezia on the waters of Islamorada. She spoke with FOX 13.

“Loretta is very curious and follows us around the yard,” she told the station, “…living in the Florida Keys, we like to get out on the water so it only seemed natural to us to take Loretta paddle boarding and boating and things that we do with our dogs.”

Any tourist could likely tell you that chickens are fairly common in the Florida Keys, but not necessarily pet chickens. A paddleboarding chicken is even further outside the realm of normalcy.
