VIDEO: Skydiving Santa crashes on Florida beach

GULFPORT, FLORIDA — This Santa traded in his sleigh for a parachute over the weekend...and unfortunately had a rough landing.

According to ABC Action News, Gerard Krokus, who is an experienced skydiver, was trying to make a grand entrance to the Beach Bums Operation Santa Charity Volleyball Tournament on Saturday in Gulfport. He was helping to deliver gifts and had a special surprise for a 9-year-old girl: an Elf on the Shelf named Kristoff.

As Krokus comes in for a landing, his speed picks up and he ends up crashing into a tree and a light pole. The entire accident was caught on cellphone video.

Dominic Nelson is Krokus’ friend and saw it all happen.

“It was the worst thing I’ve ever seen,” Nelson said.

Krokus broke his leg and is still recovering in the hospital, but he did take a picture with a smile on his face to let all his fans know that’s he’s going to be ok.

The skydiver is in good spirits and made sure the little girl received Kristoff the elf..and a letter from Old Saint Nick.
