Two dead in fatal car crash on I-4 near Lake Mary

Lake Mary, Fla. — Two people are dead after a fatal car crash happened on I-4 westbound near Lake Mary Sunday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 5:00 a.m. on mile marker 98. The driver of a Toyota Camry, 24 year old Estrellita Galarza was driving behind another vehicle heading westbound where initial information suggests that the driver fell asleep. Galarza then struck the back of a Dodge pickup, at which point the Camry overturned, ejecting both of its passengers.

Galarza sustained minor injuries and was taken to ORMC, but the passengers, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, died at the scene.

Traffic was backed up for at least six hours due to all the lanes being closed.

Troopers have not released the identities of the passengers who died in the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck, 60 year old James Locklear, sustained only minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
