The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is educating Floridians on how to identify, remove and report invasive reptiles.
The program is called FWC's Python Patrol.
During a three hour training session, wildlife agents provide participants with information on Burmese pythons in Florida in addition to the rules and regulations behind the program. Participants will learn how to identify the species, obtain the necessary permits, safely capture and remove the snakes while providing critical data to FWC.
Python Patrol training sessions are limited to just 20 people who must register beforehand.
The training is not only for people interested in becoming snake trappers, but for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors.
The next Python Patrol training session is coming up March 25, at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples.
