The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is urging Floridians to make sure their vehicle is not included in the massive Takata airbag recall.
Stephen Ridella with NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation says Florida is considered a “high priority” area for the recall. He says Florida’s heat and humidity can hasten the degrading of materials inside the airbag causing them to fail sooner.
Ridella says Florida drivers shouldn’t have any problem finding the parts for the necessary repairs.
“Here in Florida parts are available 100%. People can take their vehicles in and get a free replacement of their Takata inflator in their vehicle,” said Ridella.
