ORLANDO, FLORIDA — There’s a new dog on patrol at the University of Central Florida.
Meet Paisley. She’s a two-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound and she’s now the UCF Police Department’s very first therapy dog. Paisley will serve as a source of comfort and help put victims of violent crimes at ease.
The four-legged comfort dog is a graduate of Brevard County’s Paws and Stripes program, which pairs dogs in danger of being euthanized with trained jail inmates, who then teach them basic commands and behaviors.
“She loves to run and play,” says Detective Matt Scott. “That’s all she wants to do. She sees a dog, she wants to play. She sees people, she wants to play. She has energy for days!”
Once Paisley completes her therapy dog certification, she’ll work right alongside UCF police to help Knights in need.
We'd like to introduce you to Paisley!
