Orange County, Fla. — A wildfire along the Orange County -Brevard County line has grown from 120 acres to more than 1,500 acres Monday.
As of 6 p.m. the so called water plant fire was only about 20 percent contained according to the Florida Forest Service, who said they had 34 crew members on the ground fighting the flames.
At least 11 homes in the Eden Reserve community in Christmas are threatened because of the fire.
The fire started Friday near the Cocoa Water Plant near State Road 520.
Channel 9 Eyewitness News meteorologists said the winds have shifted a bit since the fire started.
Officials with the Florida Forest Service said they know how to handle the shifting winds, but their efforts are complicated by the fact Central Florida is so dry.
