ORLANDO, FL — Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said the city of Orlando is looking for its first poet laureate ever.
The goal is to promote an appreciation of poetry. Whoever is picked will present original works of poetry at youth activities and city events.
Applicants must live in Central Florida, be at least 21 years old, and demonstrate achievement in the art of poetry. Applications will be accepted through August 7th, with the winner to be announced in October.
The poet laureate will make $3,000 annually, and will get up to $1,000 in approved expenses according to the city.
