Casselberry police accuse man of abusing infant son

A Casselberry man has been arrested and charged for allegedly abusing his 3 month-old son.

Police say Randall Jerome is charged with cruelty toward a child, aggravated child abuse and child neglect.

Their investigation began on July 1 after a pediatric nurse contacted law enforcement after seeing a Facebook post by the boy’s mother.   She posted in a group asking why her son had markings and blisters on his body.

Police went to the home and questioned the mother: she admitted to writing the post and said she debated taking her 3 month-old to the hospital.  She told police he was lethargic, vomiting and had recently noticed marks on his body.

The mother told police the boy’s father, Jerome, and sometimes a babysitter, would watch the child while she’s at work.

The baby was taken to the hospital, where a CT scan revealed he had a skull fracture, police said.

During questioning with police, it was noted that the child received many of the injuries and abrasions while Jerome was alone with the boy.

Workers at the hospital say the boy’s injuries were not accidental and Jerome made no attempts to seek medical treatment for him.

The child is recovering from his injuries.
